Tax Need Creep

A few months ago, when the river tax was all the rage, the Tulsa World did a poll. The poll showed the majority of people wanted the streets fixed, and gave nary a poop for river development. At that time, as I recall, the figure thrown out for needed street work was $600 million.

That figure soon went to a billion dollars. Then it went to $1.6 billion. Now, according to a report published by KTUL this evening, the figure has grown to $2 billion.

Fascinating. The number just keeps growing and growing.

Even more fascinating is the fact that KTUL reported councilors are bickering over the "plan," which apparently includes no money for either 81st or 91st Streets, and no money for north Tulsa.

So tell me, how can a "plan" that calls for $2 billion in new tax money not include two major east-west arteries, and how can that "plan" ignore half of the city?

If you are willing to vote for any of the tax increases the politicians want, you need brain surgery. Consult a physician immediately.
