Obama: Changer or Changeling?
The recent election of Obama should serve as an excellent learning experience for the youth of our nation. You can put your faith in God. You can put your faith in your family---if you have a good one. You can put your faith in your friends---if you have some good ones. But never put your faith in politicians. Politicians lie a lot.Obama, though preaching change during the campaign, chose Joe Biden as his veep. Joe Biden has been in the U.S. Senate since he's been old enough to shave.
Obama's first speech after being elected told people not to expect change. Change might not even happen in his first term, he told the crowd. But hey, keep hope alive! And vote for me again in four years!
Obama's first act as president-elect was to appoint Rahm Emanuel---former Clintonite---as chief of staff. Emanuel is also---of all things at this point in time---a former investment bankster. He is said to have "sharp elbows." In Washington speak, that means he's an asshole.
I saw Emanuel on one of the morning news shows weekend before last. Stephie Stephabopolis asked Emanuel if Obama planned to honor his campaign pledge to push for tax increases on his filthy rich buddies, like Oprah and Letterman. Emanuel went into some pre-recorded dissertation about the middle class. Stephie asked the question again, and got the same answer. Stephie gave up at that point and moved on to another topic.
Hillary Clinton---of all people---is reportedly set to be appointed secretary of state. Obama assailed Clinton as being old guard throughout the primary campaign. Clinton assailed Obama as being unprepared throughout the primary campaign. Now they are in bed together.
I caught a news blurb over the weekend that said, as I recall, 31 of 47 members of the Obama transition team are former Clintonites.
I figured the only good thing that would come out of this election would be the end of the Bush-Clinton dynasty. My bad.
Way to roll up those sleeves and change Washington, Barry.
