Blow Jiden on Stimulus

I watched a little Eat the Press this morning. The veep was the featured guest.

He was asked to justify the Obama administration claim that 150,000 jobs have been "saved or created" in the first 100 days. He bumbled and stumbled, of course.

He pointed to New York, where he claims 14,000 teachers that were given notice are still on the job. It was unclear whether he was talking about New York City or New York state, but I guess that matters little in the grand scheme. Millions in the private sector are out of work, but, according to Biden, we should all stand and applaud the fact that 14,000 New Yorkers that live off tax money are still getting paid because of tons of federal borrowing.

You know how teachers' unions work: a teacher can't be fired for incompetence. Not without a team of lawyers and an act of Congress, at least. It figures the 14,000 teachers that were noticed were the most incompetent that could be isolated. Not having the money to pay them provided an excellent reason to get them off the payroll.

Uncle Sam's intervention probably just cheated New Yorkers out of a golden opportunity for a purge.
