The PEC at Work
Michael Bates has posted a piece on public schools lowering the necessary grade for a student to be called proficient in a subject. I encourage you to hit the link to the right and read it for yourself.I also encourage you to read the comments from readers. There are several, and not one of them has anything supportive to say about public education.
Bates noted the Tulsa World did a story on the matter, singing the praises of a great advance in public education. (I haven't read the World article.)
Our great "heroes of the classroom" have moved to increase the number of passing students by lowering the bar. And one of the biggest newspapers in the state offers no criticism. Quite the opposite, in fact.
The is an example of the media leg of the political-educational complex at work.

Amazing! When passing grade is lowered, more students pass test!
