The Gubment and Free Money
I saw a story published by KOTV last night. I reckon it was supposed to be one of those feel-good stories. But, frankly, I found it disturbing. The story was about some weatherizing being done on a home. The weatherizing was funded by “stimulus” money. A chick was featured. She, with tears in her eyes, talked of how her family couldn’t afford the work that was being done on the family home. She thanked the president and the people that did the work.
First problem: The lady failed to thank the people that made it happen. She made no mention of taxpayers. Does the president have any money without taxpayers? Do the people that did the work have any money without taxpayers?
Second problem: The money that made it happen didn’t really come from taxpayers; it came from China and Kuwait. It was borrowed. With each passing day we owe more and more money to countries abroad. With each passing day we commit to paying more and more interest to countries abroad. The woman that cried on TV fails to realize the gubment money she accepts is helping to destroy the futures of her children.
There are no free lunches, folks. Get that through your heads. Then understand the politicians don’t want to tax rich people. If you can combine the two, you will understand the politicians want to take money from average people and give it to the poorer people so politicians can enrich themselves.
You dig?
