What Might Have Been

They played a game with some stank on it, but the Pokes managed to notch their ninth win this evening. OU is all that stands between the Pokes and a record tenth win.

Where would the Pokes be now if not for a major game fart in the second contest of the season against Houston. Houston is a good team, don't get me wrong. But there is no way that team should have been capable of putting up 45 points on OSU at the Boone.

Had the Pokes won that game, they would now be 10-1 and staring at a BCS bowl guarantee with a win over the Boomers. Unfortunately, shoulda, coulda, woulda doesn't count. These days, there is no such thing as an unimportant game in the course of a college football season.

The Pokes still have a shot at a BCS bowl if they can get past the Boomers. It won't be easy. OU has been nearly invincible in Norman under Stoops and the defense has been a beast all season.
