Four Good People Needlessly Dead

I’ve written a time or two about the revolving doors in our prison system. In recent days, a terrible incident in Washington state has been reported. Four cops were shot dead by a guy that should have, without a doubt, been in prison. The assailant has, himself, been shot dead by a police officer---after a large amount of public money was expended in an effort to track him down.

Self-proclaimed conservative Mike Huckabee, while serving as governor, cut this criminal loose from an Arkansas prison. Huckabee lost any shot at my vote long ago with his endorsement of the so-called “fair tax.” But if he ever had any shot at all at the White House, it’s gone now. I guess that can be chalked up as a positive result from this tragedy.

Another is the attention that has been drawn toward not putting---and keeping---murderers, rapists and whatever in prison cells.

There is a social argument out there that says we have too many people imprisoned in this country.

Too many? Are you sure about that?

People that can’t live in a society shouldn’t be loosed in a society. End of story.
