The Definition of a Failure

Back in the day, there was a joke floating around about the definition of a failure. In the joke, a failure was defined as a 7-foot black dude that couldn’t play basketball.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, not PC. Ya know, I’m not sure I’ve ever met a brotha that wouldn’t laugh at that joke. Some people just need to lighten up and get lives.

Now, I don’t wish to make too much light of the most recent attempt to blow up an airliner. A lot of people might have died had the attempt been successful. There are serious questions about how this guy got on a plane with chemicals and such. But there is something to laugh at, and that would be this fellow’s incompetence. I mean here’s this great wannabe martyr, looking to kill a bunch of people and go get his multitude of virgins. Yet all he managed to accomplish was the setting on fire of his own scrotum and getting arrested.

Me thinks it might be time for a new joke. Perhaps it is time to define a failure as a terrorist that can’t manage to blow himself up.

I have a suggestion for any would-be terrorist: run tests. Strap on your little device, then go out into a field all by yourself and let ‘er rip. If all you do is set your sack on fire, dude, you need to get some salve and go back to the drawing board.

After a redesign, strap it on again and go back to your secluded field. If you manage to blow yourself up, well, congratulations are in order.
