Democracy? What Democracy?

I've been watching the grand media reports about the terrible things happening to politicians that voted for the health care bill. I'm not sure how much of it is real. The parts that might be real are most likely being overblown.

For example, I have seen numerous reports about Stupak getting a message that said, "I hope you die." A wish doesn't constitute a threat. I'd liken such a comment to a comment coming from a teenager that tells parents he or she hates them for getting barred from attending a party.

I found the statement issued by Representative Steny Hoyer interesting. He stood in front of the media cameras and said all this bad behavior didn't belong in a "democracy."

What "democracy?" Poll after poll showed the majority of Americans didn't want the health care bill that just passed. A handful of dickheads in Washington passed it anyway. Does "democracy" not mean majority rule?

Disagree with me. That's fine. But don't hand me hypocrisy. For a guy to stand in front of TV cameras, wearing a $2,000 suit that was purchased either with taxpayer money or bribe money, and use the word "democracy" when he voted something into law that the majority of the country didn't want is, without question, hypocrisy.

Eat me, Steny. If I were in spitting distance of your fancy suit, I'd hack up a loogie myself.

Re: Democracy? What Democracy?
FWIW, a Republic is a particular form of Democracy, one where majority rule is not the rule.

However, we are supposed to elect wise officials who understand our Constitution, our freedoms and our country to a level required to make satisfactory decisions in our behalf.

When hacks occupy the offices, anything becomes possible, as demonstrated.
