A Worse Worst-Case Scenario
Things, as we all know, aren't going too awfully well down in the Gulf. Reports say efforts to contain the oil are being hampered by choppy seas, and that it might take as long as 90 days to seal the leak. But, so far, I've heard no mention of what looms on the horizon: hurricane season. If a hurricane shows up, you can forget about containment. Lord knows how far and wide a major storm would send the goo. And, of course, there is the storm surge. It's bad enough when a storm surge floods an area with water alone. Just imagine how much worse it would be if the flood water was carrying thousands of gallons of crude with it.
Let's all pray we don't get the chance to find out what happens when a hurricane meets an oil slick.
