Greece: The Canary in the Coalmine
Greece is the word. Greece's debt crisis is roiling our stock market, and putting the fear of God into all of Europe. What happened to Greece? In short, the Grecian politicians got way too generous with gubment giveaways. The Greeks borrowed money to pay the bills, and now they face default.
Greece, it seems, is "too big to fail." It's not enough for taxpayers to have to bail out corporations anymore; now taxpayers in sovereign nations are having to come to the aid of another sovereign nation because the politicians in the nation of need were too stupid to manage their own business. How pathetic has this world become?
Today, we're talking about Greece. Tomorrow, we might be talking about the United States. Take Greece out of the current equation and replace it with the United States. "Crisis" wouldn't be a strong enough word. We'd be talking about a freakin' worldwide economic earthquake.
Washington is borrowing over $100 billion a month. We're walking Greece's path. I would suggest the penises in power get their heads out of their asses while there is still time.
