Arlen's Last Day?
Arlen Specter was long a fur-ball in the throats of many Republicans. That until he changed his affiliation to Democrat a short time ago. Now, it seems, the Democrats are no more enthused about Specter than his past associates in the Republican Party. He may well lose in his Democratic primary today.Once he was a Democrat. Then he became a Republican. Then, when he sensed a sea change, he went back to being a Democrat. A very damaging ad has been running in Pennsylvania, showing Specter, in a near-sinister tone, telling a reporter that changing parties would get him reelected.
I saw a clip on the news last night in which Specter was shown telling a crowd that he has always voted with the Democrats---even when he was a Republican. A lot of Republicans would back him up on that claim.
The thing is, how does one put any faith or trust in the words of a man that is like a sheet hanging on a clothes line, devoid of any real convictions? How does one put any faith or trust in the words of a man whose only mission in life seems to be that of holding a Senate seat until he dies?
