Fragments
The Broken Arrow story continues. The state auditor has delayed the release of audit results. He claims the audit may be tainted.I said in a recent post that Auditor Burrage had my vote in his quest for reelection. I might have to eat those words. If it turns out that Burrage has caved to pressure brought by educators and their lawyers, I will eat those words---and change my upcoming vote.

I don't know what is going on in Broken Arrow. I really don't. But something is going on that shouldn't be going on, that's for sure.
This whole thing started with a superintendent asking questions. That superintendent got fired. A public employee actually trying to do his job got fired for his trouble. Hmmm, go figya.
Out in Skiatook, a superintendent was stealing money. The school board did everything it could to avoid firing the guy.
Meanwhile, I saw a TV interview in which the new Broken Arrow super said he shouldn't be messing with this; his focus should be on the football game between his high school and that of Owasso.
A district's super has his main focus on a high school football game. Never mind that dropout rates are at 30 percent. Never mind that US students can't stand against students from other countries. The big issue is the upcoming football game.
Great.

I saw a TV story done last night about Union High School's football team. The story noted a million bucks being spent installing new turf in the high school's football stadium. The team, by the way, is in the middle of a road trip to Louisiana.
A high school football team crossing state lines to play a game. Dude.
But they say they can't afford "education." They can't afford textbooks, software or buses.

I saw a recent news blurb on a school district. I don't recall which district, but the story pointed to a new thing on the list of required things students needed to bring with them. On the list was toilet paper.
For all the taxes you pay to provide for public schools, it appears the schools now claim they can't pay for butt-wipes if your kid needs to take a dump.
Marvelous.
