Raise the Roof

I'm tired of the bickering and political posturing. Raise the debt ceiling. Everybody knows it has to happen. Just do it. Then we can get into discussions about doing what absolutely needs to be done longer term. That being an end to federal borrowing. I don't want to hear about "deficit reduction." I want to hear about an end to federal borrowing, period.

But let's not, post debt-ceiling hike, address the major issues on a broad scale, a la Obamacare. Let's take one issue at time, argue about it and find common ground. Fix that one issue, not for a week but for the next 30 or 40 years.

The election in 2012 is the election in 2012. We have passed the time when everything can be done based on an upcoming election. There is always an upcoming election. Now is the time to get serious.
